Richland County’s North Beltine Boulevard, Caughman Road, others reopen
A section of Caughman Road in Richland County has reopened, the South Carolina Department of Transportation announced on Saturday.
The section of Caughman Road between Benson and Teague Roads has been reopened, said Andy Leaphart, SCDOT’s chief engineer for operations. It was one of many roads and bridges closed after historic flooding struck South Carolina earlier in October.
Not all of Caughman Road is open, but SCDOT prioritized that section to allow for easier access to nearby Caughman Road Elementary School, Leaphart said.
Also open now is North Beltline Boulevard at Falcon Drive near A.C. Flora High School, allowing easier access to the Forest Acres area.
Also, Leesburg Road, Flora Drive, Kelly Mill at Bombing Range, Teague Road, Mt. Elon Church Road at S.C. 262 and Mt. Elon Church Road at Harmon Road are all open.
As of Saturday morning, 149 roads and 57 bridges remained closed in Richland County, according to the DOT.
