Newberry County woman killed in crash

A Newberry County woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash near Prosperity on Saturday morning.

Victoria Rose Moates, 23, was killed immediately after the vehicle she was driving ran off of the roadway striking trees and a small concrete building, according to a release from the Newberry County Coroner’s Office. Moates was alone in the vehicle and was not wearing a seat belt, Coroner Craig Newton said. She wrecked at 8:57 a.m. Saturday at 1129 St. Phillips Church Road.

The coroner ordered an autopsy for Sunday morning to determine the cause and manner of Moates’ death.

The Newberry County Sheriff's Department,, Newberry County Rescue Squads, and County Fire Departments assisted after the crash.
