Lexington 1 Schools announce weather makeup days
Lexington 1 Schools announced Monday that it will make up the five days that were lost at the beginning of October because of the historic flooding.
In addition to the three severe weather makeup days – March 25, April 22 and May 16, 2016 – the district has added Jan. 4 and 5, 2016 as two full school days, said Chief Communications Officer Mary Beth Hill. According to Hill, these makeup days originally were designated as teacher workdays/professional development days.
Hill said there are some other changes to the academic calendar. She said Dec. 18 was originally a half day but will become a full day, and Jan. 15 will become a half day after originally being scheduled as a full day.
Another change will only affect staff, Hill said of turning the Feb. 15 Presidents Day holiday into a teacher workday/professional development day. Hill said it will remain a holiday for students.
The revised calendar appears on the district’s website at http://www.lexington1.net/academic-calendar.
