Richland County road, bridge closures down significantly, DOT report shows
The number of roads and bridges closed in Richland County since last month’s devastating flooding has dropped by more than half since last weekend, according to the latest S.C. Department of Transportation update.
Among the 85 roads and bridges still closed statewide since Oct. 4, 25 are in Richland County, 12 in Lexington County, according to a news release Sunday morning.
A week ago, 53 roads and bridges were closed in Richland County, 11 in Lexington County.
At peak – on Oct. 5, the day after devastating floods – 541 roads and bridges were closed across South Carolina, according to DOT reports.
