Driver killed in early Wednesday morning Lexington County crash identified

A single-vehicle crash left one person dead in Lexington County early Wednesday morning.

Anthony Todd Risinger, 42, of Batesburg-Leesville, was traveling south on Caney Branch Road in Batesburg-Leesville and failed to stop at a stop sign, according to a release from Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher. Risinger crossed over Windmill Road and struck a tree at approximately 12:15 a.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained during the wreck.

An autopsy is scheduled for today to determine the cause of death. Officials believe Risinger was not wearing a seat belt when he crashed, according to the release.

The crash is still under investigation by Highway Patrol and the Lexington County Coroner’s Office.
