Toney charged with murder of Baby Grace

Sarah Lane Toney was charged Monday with murder/homicide by child abuse in the death of her infant daughter, whose lifeless body was discovered last week in a Socastee creek, said Lt. Raul Denis of the Horry County Police Department.

The coroner ruled Friday that Baby Grace’s death was a homicide, but no further information has been released as to whether the infant drowned, or was already dead when Toney, 33, said she lost the child in the rushing creek water near her Simms Drive residence on Tuesday, Nov. 3.

The incident led to a massive search by rescue crews and police. The child’s body was recovered on Thursday.
