Sumter County Sheriff locates missing child

The Sumter County Sheriff’s Department reported that a missing six-year-old girl was successfully located and is safe.

Emily Ginther got lost when she left Cherryvale Elementary School on Monday afternoon, Public Information Officer Braden Bunch said.

Fellow Cherryvale student Steven Watts, 9, saw Ginther and tried to help her find her home, according to Bunch. He added that the children weren’t able to find Ginther’s home and went to Watts’ home, where his family contacted the police and deputies recovered the six-year-old.
