In a show of appreciation for continued efforts in flood recovery and community service, members of the Lugoff-Elgin Middle School Beta Club treated Lugoff firefighters to a meal Monday night.

Lugoff Fire Chief Dennis Ray said students and faculty stopped by the fire department on Monday night to drop off the meal as well as read and present a poster of the “Firefighter’s Prayer,” which Ray said will be framed and hung in the department.

After reading the prayer, many of the students had the opportunity to take a picture with the firefighters before presenting them the meal, Ray said.

“All of us at Lugoff Fire (Department) were so impressed and humbled by the supper and presentation by the Beta Club before our meeting Monday night,” Ray said. “These Beta Club members clearly demonstrated what community service is all about. We will be talking about these actions for a long time around the fire house."
