Richland 2 plans student advisory panel
Richland 2 school officials plan to create a student advisory panel to assure pupils get a chance to weigh in on classroom operations.
School board members are looking to establish the group after an uproar over a former deputy’s forcible removal of a Spring Valley High student from class.
“The board is working to do it, although nothing is in concrete,” Joe Burke, a Richland 2 spokesman, said Wednesday.
Questions remain on the panel’s make-up and how soon it would be in place, he said.
The panel will give board members a birds-eye view of student reaction to current oversight of schools and the impact of suggested changes, supporters say.
