CENTRAL CAROLINA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION has opened nonprofit registration for Midlands Gives through Feb. 29. The 24-hour Midlands Gives local online giving challenge will be May 3. HOPE VIRTUAL 5K RUN will take place in the month of November as a virtual 5k. Participants can run, walk, cycle or use a treadmill at their own pace and participate. OYSTER AND BBQ BASH will be 6:30-9:30 p.m. Thursday at 833 Broad St., Camden. The event kicks off the Colonial Cup weekend and will feature oysters, live music, BBQ, fixings, beer and wine. Tickets are $40 and available at www.cmcofkc.org, (803) 713-0806 or at 110-C East DeKalb St., Camden. All proceeds to benefit the Community Medical Clinic of Kershaw County.

RECONSTRUCTING HOME ART SHOW will be 5:30-8:30 p.m. today at Tapps Art Center, 1644 Main St. The event will feature a silent auction of paintings using materials from a recently demolished house by residents of Transitions Homeless Recovery Center, hors d’oeuvres and music. Tickets are $40 and available at tappsartscenter.com. Proceeds to help Transitions and the artist.

THANKSGIVING SOUPER will be 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 3200 Trenholm Road, and at Doko Meadows, 171 Langford Road, Blythewood. Tickets are $5 per person, and net proceeds benefit The Women’s Shelter.

DONATIONS

FRIENDS OF THE ANIMALS needs thrift donations. Sales from the items are used to take care of and feed dog and cats. Furniture, knickknacks, used pet items and other types of thrift donations are needed; drop off at The Black Dog Inn, 321 E. Columbia Ave., Batesburg-Leesville. (803) 604-1303

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD will accept donations of toys, schools supplies, hygiene items and notes of encouragement Monday through Nov. 23 for children in poverty overseas. For list of local collection sites and times, visit samaritanspurse.org/occ.

NATIONAL MISSIONS DAY will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Meadowlake Park, 600 Beckman Road. The event is meant to encourage people to give household items, clothing, shoes, bibles, ministry supplies, food and other items for people affected by the Oct. 4 floods. Free tent space available. PALMETTO SERIES FOOD DRIVE: Clemson University and the University of South Carolina will compete by raising the most donations of non-perishable foods by Nov. 23 to benefit Harvest Hope Food Bank. On-campus collection points are available at www.harvesthope.com under “events” as well as at Gamecock Village on Saturday and Nov. 21.

SISTERCARE, a shelter for battered women and their children, is in need of paper products and personal hygiene items. Drop off donations from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday at Sistercare Administration Office, 1820 Morlaine Drive, Cayce. Find a complete list of needs at www.sistercare.org.

SUNSET FELINES is in need of people to spare an hour a week (mornings or late afternoons, weekdays and weekends) to assist with feeding of cat colonies in Lexington County. HISTORIC COLUMBIA is looking for volunteers willing to donate nine or more hours a month. Volunteer opportunities include giving tours, museum maintenance, gardening, administrative work and helping with educational programs. GOOD NEIGHBORS

MOLINA HEALTHCARE is giving away 400 bags of groceries for Thanksgiving 4-6 p.m. Thursday at BI-LO, 3315 B. Broad River Road. The reusable bags will include green beans, cornbread stuffing, turkey gravy, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce and cheesecake mix. The bags will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis.

SPIRIT OF TRUTH CHRISTIAN CHURCH is giving away water, canned goods and clothes for residents affected by the Oct. 4 flood. Items are available for pickup at the church, 4201 Abingdon Road, Mondays and Tuesdays between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and Wednesdays 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. through Dec. 31. Donations can also be dropped off at the church.
