Man killed in head-on collision in Newberry County
The Newberry County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of a head-on collision near Pomaria Tuesday afternoon.
Chief Deputy Coroner Lewis Lee said that 59-year-old John Ma, of Glendale, N.Y., was killed instantly when the vehicle he was driving crossed the center of the roadway striking an on-coming vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle was transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
Lee said the collision happened just before 4:30 p.m. near the intersection of S.C. 213 and Broad River Road.
Ma was in the area as a contract employee of the nearby nuclear station, Lee said.
