CENTRAL CAROLINA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION has opened nonprofit registration for Midlands Gives through Feb. 29. The 24-hour Midlands Gives local online giving challenge will be May 3. HOPE VIRTUAL 5K RUN will take place in the month of November as a virtual 5k. Participants can run, walk, cycle or use a treadmill at their own pace and participate. SHOOT FOR SECOND CHANCES SPORTING CLAYS CHARITY TOURNAMENT will be 1 p.m. today at Hermitagte Farms, 2362 Tickle Hill Road, Camden. The event is part of the Colonial Cup pre-race events. OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD will accept donations of toys, schools supplies, hygiene items and notes of encouragement through Monday for children in poverty overseas. For list of local collection sites and times, visit samaritanspurse.org/occ.

PALMETTO SERIES FOOD DRIVE: Clemson University and the University of South Carolina will compete by raising the most donations of non-perishable foods by Monday to benefit Harvest Hope Food Bank. On-campus collection points are available at www.harvesthope.com under “events” as well as at Gamecock Village on Saturday and Nov. 21.

SISTERCARE, a shelter for battered women and their children, is in need of paper products and personal hygiene items. Drop off donations from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday at Sistercare Administration Office, 1820 Morlaine Drive, Cayce. Find a complete list of needs at www.sistercare.org.

SPIRIT OF TRUTH CHRISTIAN CHURCH is giving away water, canned goods and clothes for residents affected by the Oct. 4 flood. Items are available for pickup at the church, 4201 Abingdon Road, Mondays and Tuesdays between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and Wednesdays 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. through Dec. 31. Donations can also be dropped off at the church.
