Runoff election vote certified, results unchanged

The capital city’s elections commission on Thursday certified the winners in Tuesday’s runoff for two seats on Columbia City Council.

The final results varied by just a few votes from the preliminary figures released on election night by Richland County election officials.

Howard Duvall received 4,895 votes in the citywide race, or just more than 66 percent of the vote. Andy Smith got 2,504, or almost 34 percent.

In the District 2 race, Ed McDowell received 820 votes, or about 51.5 percent. Aaron Bishop got 769, or about 48.5 percent.
