Segment of Corley Mill Road in Lexington County closed
The South Carolina Department of Transportation closed a segment of Corley Mill Road in Lexington County Thursday night because of a “possible breach in a low hazard dam.”
“The dam poses no threat to the area except for the flooding of Corley Mill Road,” state officials said.
Corly Mill Road, from Millstream Road to the lower/bus entrance of River Bluff High School, will remain closed until the state can inspect the dam during daylight hours, SCDOT said.
Detours have been put in place and South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers will be in place in the morning to assist with traffic, SCDOT spokesman Robert Kudelka said in an email.
Corley Mill Road is a major thoroughfare in the county and offers access to River Bluff High School. River Bluff High School will be accessible from US 378 Friday morning. None of the school entrances are blocked by the closure, Kudelka said.
