Lexington County deputies investigating rash of fires in Gilbert neighborhood

LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC Lexington County Sheriff’s Department officials are urging caution for residents of a Gilbert neighborhood after a rash of fires have broken out throughout the month.

Sheriff Jay Koon said three suspicious fires have been reported to the department in recent days.

“The first fire damaged a mailbox near West Drake. A few days later, an SUV was burned on Canvasback Road and a shed at a West Drake home was set on fire, both on the same day,” Koon said.

Koon said although nobody was injured in the fires, they did result in property damage and loss.

“The public can help us prevent another one by sharing information they might have and keeping an eye on things in their neighborhood,” Koon said.
