Escape Plan Columbia opens Midlands’ first ‘escape room’

Think you could take on the role of a spy working to dismantle a bomb that’s just waiting to blow up the city?

Well, you now have the opportunity to assume a life of espionage with Columbia’s new “escape room.”

Escape Plan Columbia is scheduled to hold its grand opening event Nov. 27 and will offer the Midlands its first escape room experience.

The premise of an escape room is simple: You and a team have 60 minutes to find clues, solve puzzles and work together to escape the room or complete the objective.

Simple right? Not so fast.

Escape Plan’s owner Josh Brickley says each room presents its own unique set of challenges.

The two rooms featured at Escape Plan Columbia include the already-mentioned “spy versus bomb” plot, but the other forces participants to locate missing persons and escape a serial killer’s clutches.

“It is a great option if you’re looking for something fun to do with friends and family,” Brickley said. “But we also have a lot of businesses that are planning on bringing in their employees for team building. It really brings people together to accomplish a common goal.”
