Lexington County coroner identifies woman killed in crash Thursday morning

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office has identified a victim who was killed in an early Thursday morning collision.

Coroner Margaret Fisher said 24-year-old Shalonda Monique Duncan, of Gaston, died from injuries sustained from the collision, which occurred at 3:45 a.m.

Fisher said Duncan was traveling west on Highway 302 near Old Orangeburg Road when her vehicle left the roadway, overturned and struck several parked vehicles. Duncan, who was the vehicle’s only passenger, was not wearing a seat belt at the time of collision and was ejected from the vehicle.

Fisher said an autopsy has been scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.

The coroner’s office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol will continue to investigate the cause of the collision.
