2 Lexington 1 principals honored
Two Lexington 1 principals are tops in their positions in awards given by the South Carolina Association of School Administrators.
Bill Coon of Meadow Glen Middle was named best middle school principal and Sherry Cariens of Oak Grove Elementary received a similar honor for elementary schools.
Coon, an educator for 30 years, has been principal at Meadow Glen since it opened in 2011. He was chosen from two finalists.
Cariens, an educator for 41 years, has been principal at Oak Grove since 2010 and taught there in the 1970s. The school received a Palmetto Finest honor last spring. She was chosen from three finalists.
Both principals are known for vision and devotion to academic progress of students, Lexington 1 Superintendent Karen Woodward said.
