Driver killed in late-night crash in Calhoun County
A two-vehicle crash on I-26 left one person dead early Wednesday morning.
One truck was sitting on the highway due to a previous crash, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol. A 2003 GMC truck, traveling west, struck the first vehicle and caused it to go off the right side of the road and strike a pedestrian. The GMC truck went off the road into the median.
Troopers say the pedestrian’s injuries, and those of the man driving the first truck, were not life threatening. They were transported to local hospitals for medical care.
The driver of the second truck was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.
Highway Patrol continues to investigate.
