Richland County deputies charged man who stole $13,000 from residents needing home repairs
Richland County deputies have charged a man who allegedly stole over $13,000 from county residents in need of home repairs.
Sheriff Leon Lott said 48-year-old Wayne Hunter Wallace was charged with three counts of obtaining goods under false pretenses in connection with the investigation.
Lott said Wallace allegedly preyed on victims by taking money for much-needed home repairs on three separate occasions in June 2014.
In all three incidents, Lott said Wallace accepted money for roof repairs but never completed the work. In total, Wallace was able to take $13,987 from the victims.
Lott urges those who believe they were a victim of Wallace’s scheme to contact the Richland County Sheriff’s Department at (803) 576-3000.
