Columbia police investigate bank robbery on Main Street
Columbia police are attempting to track down the suspect that robbed a First Citizens bank Friday afternoon, officials say.
Columbia police spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons said officers were dispatched to the First Citizens bank in the 2600 block of Main Street, near Geiger Avenue, in reference to a bank robbery around 12 p.m.
The suspect entered the bank and allegedly verbally threatened the clerk during the robbery before fleeing the scene, Timmons said.
Columbia investigators and K-9 teams were dispatched to the bank in an attempt to locate the suspect.
If anyone has information regarding the incident, they are urged to call Crimestoppers at 1 (888)-CRIME-SC.
The State will update this story as more information becomes available.
