Sumter man charged after allegedly sexually assaulting unconscious woman
Sumter County deputies have charged a man Monday who allegedly sexually assaulted a woman while she was unconscious, officials said.
Braden Bunch, a sheriff’s office spokesman, said 42-year-old Daniel Girdvainis has been charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct in connection with the investigation.
An arrest warrant filed in the case said that on Nov. 5, the victim reported that Girdvainis sexually assaulted her after she took medication and became unconscious.
Bunch said Girdvainis was taken into custody and is being held at the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
