Two Lexington County men are facing several charges after burglarizing Gilbert Elementary School and a business nearby, officials said.

Capt. Adam Myrick, a Lexington County Sheriff’s Department spokesman, said 18-year-old Gary Lybrand and 18-year-old Kameron Swygert have both been charged with multiple counts of burglary, criminal conspiracy and one count each of grand larceny.

Myrick said the pair broke into the school in the early-morning hours of Dec. 2 and stole 16 Apple iPads. During the investigation, deputies discovered that the two had broken into a nearby business in the 100 block of Main Street in Gilbert on Sept. 10.

Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said eight of the stolen iPads have been returned to the school district.

Anyone who may have purchased an iPad from the suspects is asked to call the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department at (803) 785-2400 to make arrangements for their return.

Lybrand has been released on bond, Myrick said, while Swygert is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center while he awaits a bond hearing.
