SLED charges Laurens police officer with domestic violence
South Carolina Law Enforcement Division agents have charged a Laurens police officer with domestic violence after he allegedly bit the victim, officials said.
Thom Berry, a SLED spokesman, said 45-year-old Donald Orrin Evans was charged with second-degree domestic violence in connection with the incident, which occurred on Nov. 27.
An arrest warrant filed in the case said Evans allegedly assaulted the victim with his hands, bit her on the right arm and threw her on the bed and pinned her with his knees.
If convicted, Evans faces a maximum sentence of three years in prison, a fine from $2,500 to $5,000 or both, Berry said.
