Lexington County deputies investigate homicide in West Columbia

Lexington County deputies are investigating what they believe to be a homicide after a body was located at a West Columbia residence Sunday morning.

Lexington County Sheriff’s Department officials said deputies responded to the 4200 block of Greenwood Drive and located a body inside of the residence. Deputies determined that the manner of death was the result of a homicide.

Officials said a person of interest in the investigation has been taken into custody but on unrelated charges.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the identity of the deceased individual.
