Missing Kershaw County boy located in New Hampshire

Kershaw County investigators say that a 7-year-old boy who was reported missing from Dobys Mill Elementary School has been found with his family in New Hampshire.

Capt. Steve Knafelc, Kershaw County investigator, said Charles Hughes Chandler was located Wednesday night after he was reported missing from the school on Nov. 24.

Knafelc said the boy had minor injuries and bed bugs covering his body. The boy’s grandmother, who lives in New Hampshire, picked the boy up following his discovery. She will take the boy to receive a medical exam and be seeking temporary custody of the boy in her state.

Initial reports said the boy’s grandfather, from Lugoff, had not had any contact with the family for several weeks and believed they were living out of their car, Knafelc said.
