Newberry County closes roadway after bridge floods

Newberry County officials said the county is currently under a flood advisory after reporting that the Enoree and Saluda rivers are expected to flood in the next couple of hours.

County officials said Boinest Road in Prosperity is closed at the bridge due to inundation of the structure and concerns of stability until the water levels recede.

Officials also said there are several other areas in the county that may experience flooding due to rising creeks and spillage from overflowing ponds.

Motorists are urged to find alternate routes around roadways with standing water and to not drive through or around barricades.
