Richland Council’s Rush joins national roundtable on economic, neighborhood topics
Richland County Council Chairman Torrey Rush was one of 25 elected officials nationwide who met with experts and policymakers last week in Washington, D.C., to discuss workforce development, voting and other economic and neighborhood issues.
Part of the discussions were focused on lessons learned from Detroit, including economic development, facing fiscal challenges and neighborhood revitalization.
Rush was competitively selected for the three-day policy roundtable for the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies as part of a group of “innovative and thoughtful policymakers ... who best represent significant communities of color with a significant potential for leadership,” according to a Richland County news release.
Based on the discussions and feedback provided by the participants, the Joint Center will publish policy briefs and produce a series of four-minute videos on the issues discussed. The Joint Center will hold its next roundtable in June 2016.
