Suspect sought in Richland County vehicle theft (with video)

Richland County investigators are seeking help tracking down a suspect captured on video stealing a car.

Just after 1 p.m. Monday, deputies were sent to 1604 Leesburg Road after a vehicle was reported stolen, Sheriff Leon Lott said in a news release Wednesday. The owner of a 1994 Chevrolet Caprice was loading her car and returned inside the Wash World laundromat to get the remainder of her clothing. That’s when the suspect stole her car, a silver and black model with South Carolina tag KNU 642.

The sheriff stated that the suspect was captured on video surveillance video equipment stealing the vehicle; he is described as a black male of medium build. He wore a thick, brown jumpsuit over a dark-colored hoodie and a dark ball cap.
