Man with handgun robs Broad River Road convenience store (with video)

Richland County authorities are trying to identify a suspect in the armed robbery Tuesday of a Broad River Road convenience store.

Just before 2 p.m., deputies were called to the Raceway at 2114 Broad River road after a suspect entered the business, pretended to purchase an item, according to a Sheriff’s Department news release Wednesday. Once at the counter, the suspect presented a handgun and demanded money from a store employee.

The suspect hit the victim in the head with the gun causing injury, according to the release; the victim grabbed a bat and chased the suspect out of the business.

The suspect was captured on video surveillance. He is described as a black male of medium build, with a mustache. He wore a black hoodie, and a blue hoodie with the hood on his head.
