Midlands people and achievements: Inez Tenenbaum

Columbia attorney Inez Tenenbaum has been named to the board of Safe Kids Worldwide, an international nonprofit working to prevent childhood injury, the number-one cause of death for children in the United States. Tenenbaum was the ninth chairman of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, serving from June 2009 through November 2013. During her tenure at the commission, she worked to transform it into one of the leading product safety agencies in the world. Tenenbaum is a former South Carolina state superintendent of education.
