Columbia groom-to-be wins $250,000 in lottery
It’s a nice day to win a quarter of a million dollars before your wedding day. At least for one Columbia resident it is.
South Carolina Education Lottery officials said a groom-to-be purchased a $250,000 Payday ticket from the Shiv Mart III on Garners Ferry Road and won.
“I can’t believe it,” the man said. “My heart is beating so hard.”
The man told lottery officials that he and his fiancé are scheduled to say their “I do’s” in the new year.
Two top prizes of the $250,000 remain in the $250,000 Payday game, officials said, with odds of purchasing a winning ticket at one in 696,000.
For selling the winning ticket, the Shiv Mart III received a $2,500 commission.
