Traffic checkpoints planned New Year’s eve in Richland County

The Richland County Sheriff Department traffic safety unit plans to conduct safety check points near Colonial Life Boulevard and I-26 on Thursday.

The effort is intended to “change driver’s behavior’s and reduce traffic collisions and fatalities in our communities” Sheriff Leon Lott said in a news release.

The placement of Thursday’s check points seeks to reduce speeding in the area.
