Suspect’s mother returns iPhone after armed robbery

A victim of an armed robbery has his iPhone back after investigators say the suspect’s mother returned the device.

The victim was robbed at 11:30 p.m. Saturday while walking to his car at South Hillock Court, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department. The suspect exited an unknown vehicle, pointed a gun at the victim's head and demanded his possessions, officials say. The victim handed over his smartphone.

The suspect stole the phone and fled the area striking a parked Nissan Altima, before leaving the scene. While deputies were on scene, the mother of the suspect arrived at the incident location and returned the phone to the victim.

The incident is still under investigation with criminal charges pending.
