UPDATE: Airman killed in motorcycle wreck near Shaw Air Force Base identified
A Shaw Air Force Base airman, identified Thursday as Staff Sgt. Dallas R. Pauls, 31, was killed in a motorcycle accident Wednesday morning near the base’s gate, according to Air Force officials.
The accident occurred at 7:14 a.m. near the Sumter gate on U.S. Highway 378.
Pauls was assigned to the U.S. Air Forces Central Command at Shaw in 2015. He was a radio frequency transmissions system supervisor with the 609th Air Communications Squadron, officials said.
His original hometown was not identified.
