Columbia police search for suspect who stole $3,500 worth of fireworks

Columbia police are searching for those responsible for stealing thousands of dollars worth of fireworks from a local firework stand.

Officials said surveillance video footage captured images of the truck used as a getaway vehicle after $3,500 worth of fireworks from a firework stand near the 5800 block of Monticello Road on Dec. 28.

The person inside the truck is suspected of stealing the fireworks, police say.

The truck is described as a possibly black 1992 to 1993 extended cab pickup truck with black rims, a “4X4” sticker at the rear and a silver stripe down the side.

If anyone has information regarding the whereabouts of the truck, they are urged to call Crimestoppers at 1 (888)-CRIME-SC.
