Driver of scooter dies Thursday after being struck at Lexington County intersection

The South Carolina Highway Patrol says no charges will be filled in a collision that took the life of the driver of a scooter Thursday afternoon.

The accident occured at 1:17 p.m. in West Columbia.

Traveling on C Avenue, the driver of the scooter ran through a stop sign at the intersection of C Avenue and Brown Street, Lance Corporal Hannah Wimberly of the highway patrol said.

The scooter was struck by a 2011 Dodge sedan. The driver of the scooter later died at the hospital, Wimberly said.

The identity of the scooter driver has not been released.
