Wreck on I-26 westbound causing morning traffic delay

An accident is delaying morning commuters traveling on Interstate 26 westbound Friday morning, according to Department of Transportation officials.

The accident occurred near the Exit 111A ramp, which has effectively closed the ramp at this time, blocking any traffic from exiting I-26 to U.S. 1 towards Lexington, officials said.

Lance Cpl. David Jones, a South Carolina Highway Patrol spokesman, said a tractor trailer carrying scrap metal overturned in the roadway.

Motorists planning to use this portion of I-26 Friday morning should plan an alternate route to avoid the traffic back up and be on the lookout for an emergency responders operating in the area.
