Sumter man charged with 15 counts of sexual exploitation of minors
A Sumter man was charged Wednesday with several counts of sexual exploitation of minors after investigators discovered he was sharing files containing child pornography over the internet.
South Carolina Attorney Gen. Alan Wilson said 39-year-old William Hugh Phillips was charged with 15 counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
The felony charges that Phillips faces result in a maximum sentence of up to 10 years imprisonment on each count, Wilson said.
Phillips’ case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General’s office.
Phillips is being held at the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center.
