21-year-old man charged in connection with Thursday morning Five Points assault
A 21-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a Thursday morning assault in Five Points.
Harold John Jacobsen turned himself in to Columbia police Saturday morning and is charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, officials said.
Police say an argument took place just before 2 a.m. Thursday in the 2000 block of Greene Street between Jacobsen and another male. Jacobsen is accused of punching the other male in the head, causing him to fall and hit his head on the concrete.
The victim remains in the hospital, police said.
Jacobsen is listed as an enrolled student in the University of South Carolina’s online directory.
