Assault suspect turns himself in to Columbia police

COLUMBIA, SC A man charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature turned himself in to Columbia police over the weekend.

Harold J. Jacobson, 21, is accused of assaulting a man during an argument while at the 2000 block of Greene Street on Thursday. During the argument, Jacobson allegedly hit the victim in the head, causing him to fall and hit his head on the concrete ground, according to the Columbia Police Department. The victim was taken to a local hospital for life-threatening injuries.

Jacobson has been confined in the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
