Lexington 1 offices on lockdown after possible burglary suspects escape nearby
The Lexington 1 district office complex is under lockdown Tuesday afternoon after a pair of possible burglars took off on foot in a nearby neighborhood, officials say.
A resident in the Corley Wood neighborhood, which sits behind the Lexington 1 district offices off Augusta Road, interrupted a possible burglary in progress Tuesday afternoon, according to Cpl. Cameron Mortenson of the Lexington Police Department. A white male and a black male were seen by the victim at the back of the home, and the subjects took off on foot, Mortenson said.
The school district offices have been placed on lockdown as a precaution, Lexington 1 spokeswoman Mary Beth Hill said.
Officers are searching the area along with assistance from the sheriff’s department’s K-9 unit.
