61-year-old suspect charged in Cayce bank robbery

Cayce Department of Public Safety officials say one man is in custody after he allegedly attempted to rob a bank Wednesday afternoon.

Tommy Lee Slife, 61, formerly of Greenville, SC, was arrested a short distance away from the Bank of America located in the 400 block of Knox Abbott Drive, near State Street.

Just after 12:40 p.m., officers responded to a call of an armed robbery attempt at the bank.

When officers arrived, officials said they learned that a male subject passed a note to one of the bank’s employees demanding money. The suspect left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Officials did not say if the suspect produced a weapon during the robbery.

Slife was being held at the Lexington County Detention Center We4dnesday night.
