Richland County deputies identify suspect in December gas station shooting

Richland County sheriff’s deputies are requesting the community’s assistance in locating a suspect believed to be involved in a December shooting at a Circle K gas station that left one wounded.

Sheriff Leon Lott said 19-year-old Yakiem Breeland is wanted for attempted murder in connection with the shooting.

Lott said just after 1 a.m. on Dec. 26, Breeland allegedly entered the Circle K gas station, located in the 4300 block of Hardscrabble Road, and shot a victim in the upper body. Video surveillance footage captured during the shooting helped investigators identify Breeland as the suspect.

The victim has since been released from the hospital and is recovering from his injuries, Lott said.

Lott said that Breeland is believed to be actively evading law enforcement and is considered armed and dangerous.
