Sumter parents charged after baby suffers multiple fractures
A Sumter man and woman are charged with unlawful conduct toward a child after their 9-week-old suffered multiple bone fractures.
Alicia Nicole Anderson, 20, and Adam Justin Little, 22, were arrested Saturday after their infant daughter was brought with a broken femur to Palmetto Health Tuomey hospital earlier this week, according to the Sumter Police Department.
Further examination of the baby found she also had several other bone fractures, which were in various stages of healing, police said.
Police were notified by the state Department of Social Services.
The baby, who is doing well and expected to make a full recovery, police said, has been placed in protective custody. Her parents are being held at the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center pending bond.
