$150,000 Powerball ticket sold in Elgin

A $150,000 winning Powerball ticket was sold to one lucky winner in Elgin for Saturday’s drawing, according lottery officials.

Officials said the ticket was purchased at the Pantry Eexpress store on Two Notch Road.

The winning numbers for Saturday’s drawing were: 4, 13, 31, 36, 52 with Powerball 8.

The winner stands to benefit from changes to the Powerball game that occurred in October. Instead of $10,000 prize for matching four white ball numbers and the red Powerball number with PowerPlay, the changes make the prize jump $50,000. Since the winner purchased PowerPlay for an additional $1, the $50,000 prize tripled to $150,000 after the selected a “3” multiplier. .

The odds of matching four white ball numbers and the red Powerball number are one in 9133,129 and the odds of a three-times multiplier being selected are one in 3.31.

The estimated jackpot for Wednesday night’s drawing is $157 million.

Proceeds from every dollar spent by players on the South Carolina Education Lottery are returned to the state in the form of funding for education, prizes, retailer commissions and payment to contractors for goods and services, officials said.
