Richland County deputies searching for attempted murder suspect

Richland County deputies are requesting the community’s assistance in locating a suspect wanted for attempted murder following a shooting that occurred Thursday evening.

Sheriff Leon Lott said the shooting occurred just before 8 p.m. near Jade Tree Road and Auburn Leaf Drive. The victim of the shooting was a passenger in a vehicle when the shots were fired at the car and the victim was struck in the upper body.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition, Lott said.

Lott said investigators are searching for a silver or pewter-in-color Chevrolet pick up truck that was seen in the area at the time of the shooting.
