No snow, but plenty of freezing temperatures ahead for Columbia

It seems the light flurries of snow seen Tuesday will not continue to stay in Columbia’s forecast, but it made sure to leave behind plenty of freezing temperatures for the area in the coming days.

Weather officials say the somewhat-sunny weather Wednesday will not be enough to provide a respite from the frosty weather as they call for a high of 42 and a low of 26 degrees in the evening. Although Thursday will bring some warmth with a high of 51, Thursday evening will bring another bout of freezing temperatures with a low of 31.

Residents in Columbia and surrounding cities can expect to see those kinds of conditions last throughout the weekend but it will remain sunny until Monday, which will bring a 40 percent chance of rain, but not snow as earlier predicted.

That chance of rain will continue throughout Monday evening and into Tuesday afternoon but clear out by Tuesday evening. Wednesday will be the first day temperatures break through to a high of 65, officials predict.
