Richland County deputies searching for burglary suspect who stole vehicle, broke into home

Richland County deputies are requesting the community’s assistance in identifying and locating a burglary suspect that stole a vehicle from a residence last Wednesday.

Sheriff Leon Lott said on Jan. 29, the suspect broke into the victim’s home located in the 300 block of Galbra Street, a few streets away from Starling Goodson Road, and stole a set of keys to the victim’s burgundy 2009 Honda Accord. The suspect then returned to the home and stole the vehicle.

Later Wednesday evening, Lott said deputies responded to a home located in the 2600 block of Bendemeer Drive, near Leesburg Road, in reference to a burglary. Deputies found that the suspect made entry into the home by kicking in the rear door.

The victim was able to provide deputies with surveillance footage that depicted a burgundy Honda Accord that was used by the suspect at the time of the burglary. Investigators were able to determine that the vehicle used in the burglary was the same that was stolen from the home on Galbra Street, Lott said.
