A prescribed burn at Peachtree Rock
The Nature Conservancy this week is working on a prescribed fire on the Peachtree Rock Heritage Preserve in Lexington County.
Firefighters will burn 330 acres over two days, setting ignition points using drip torches, which look like they’re pouring liquid flame onto the ground.
The understory brush goes up in flame, while the tallest pine trees remain unscathed.
